Testimonials

"For over 2 years, Emily was the director at the memory care community where my mother lives, and from the very beginning her natural leadership style brought grace and humanity into every interaction.

When I first met Emily, she recommended the book, “Meet Me Where I Am”.  This book helped me understand the simple concept of going to my mother’s “reality” instead of bringing her to mine. Once I grasped this, I was able to feel more compassion and less frustration.  One time, I was having lunch with my mother, and out of the blue she said, “I’d like another baby”.  She was 82 at the time.  Instead of stating her age and telling her this was impossible, I asked her if she wanted a boy or a girl.  She giggled and said a girl. My mother was beaming and so was I.

Emily also initiated and led a virtual support group for the adult children/partners of those in the memory care community. Whether she was helping navigate the emotional rollercoaster of caregiving, offering practical advice, or simply listening without judgment, Emily made everyone feel seen, supported, and less alone.  No topic was off limits, and she often brought in guest speakers to help us learn about all aspects of dementia. From communicating with a loved one, learning about the benefits of hospice care or how to deal with guilty feelings, I always left the support group feeling a bit stronger, wiser and more hopeful.

Emily has a magic touch, and anyone who has the privilege of working with her is better for it."
